Remember back in the beginning of the year when we shared the ‘5 New Restaurants Opening in Springfield’ blog? Well, you all seemed to love that one, so we thought we’d do it again. This time we’ve got five new businesses – a few of them restaurants, a few of them not – that have either just opened or will be opening in the coming months in the Springfield area. Keep reading to find out about all of the shopping, fun, and food coming to the 417!
1. Tropical Smoothie Cafe – Ozark
17 S. 20th Street, Ozark, MO 65721
YES! The rumors are true, Ozark is getting a Tropical Smoothie Cafe! The new restaurant will be located on the south side of town at the Town Center by Wal-Mart. They already have several locations in Springfield and Branson, so the addition of this location will make it easier for everyone to get their smoothie fix! That’s not the only fix you can get at Tropical Smoothie, besides their 30+ smoothies, they have a variety of sandwiches, flatbreads, wraps, and breakfast you can choose as well. Do you have an office meeting coming up and need a caterer? Tropical Smoothie caters as well, with a full menu including smoothies! According to a Facebook post, Tropical Smoothie will be serving the Ozark community by October.
500 N. Eastgate Ave., Springfield, MO 65802
3803 W. University St., Springfield, MO 65807
As of August 21st, Springfield officially has two brand new Menards locations. One is on just off of Highway 65 on the east side of town, and the other on the far west side of town near the intersection of Sunshine and West Bypass. Menards is a home improvement store with more than 300 locations across the midwest. They carry everything from building materials, tools, gardening supplies, pet and wildlife products, appliances, and more.
3. St. George’s Donuts – Ozark
1415 W. State Hwy. J, Ozark, MO 65721
As a business located in Ozark, we’re pumped about this one! St. George’s is a locally owned shop, and donuts have been a part of the family business for decades. Anyone who has lived in the Springfield area for a while is probably well aware of how delicious these donuts are, and now Ozark residents will have them readily available as well! The current plan is for a mid-September opening, but you can follow along on St. George’s Facebook page to keep up with their updates and make sure you’re the first in line on opening day!
4. Craft Axe Throwing
431 S. Jefferson, Suite 132A, Springfield, MO 65806
Axe throwing?! We didn’t even know that was a thing, but apparently it is! Similar to a shooting range, or a game of darts, guests will throw the axe down the lane at a dartboard-like target, and earn points based on how close you get to the bullseye. All sessions are staffed with a trained instructor, so you don’t need to have any experience to give it a try! They opened at the end of August and seem to be having great success, check out their Facebook page for more fun and special events!
5. Big Whiskey’s – Nixa
715 McCroskey St., Nixa, MO 65714
Nixa residents have been waiting and hoping for this one for a long time! Ever since the Ruby Tuesday closed in April of 2016, people have been wondering what would be taking it’s place. For a while there were rumors that it was going to be yet another gas station, but it was just recently announced that it will in fact become a Big Whiskey’s! The building is located at the corner of Northview Rd. and Highway 160, and like the Republic location, this one will be one of the few stand-alone locations. They are targeting a December opening, just in time for the holiday season!
